Roosty has no app account or advertising. Your saved location, routine preferences, sunrise journal, allowed-app selections, and wind-down streak are stored on your iPhone. Roosty does not sell your personal information or track you across apps. Apple handles location searches and payments. RevenueCat processes purchase information, country information, and basic app activity for subscription management and analytics. If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send.
Who is responsible
Roosty: Sleep & Wake Companion (“Roosty,” “we,” or “us”) is operated by Khaled Khatib, a sole proprietor in Canada. This policy covers the Roosty iPhone app and this support website.
Khaled Khatib is responsible for personal information handled by Roosty. For privacy questions or requests, email kalkhtb@gmail.com.
Data on your iPhone
The app stores the information needed to run your sunrise routine:
- Preferences: onboarding progress, selected goals and obstacles, your estimates of usual bedtime and wake-up time, your sleep goal, alarm timing, snooze duration, and reminder choices. Quiz answers and usual sleep times stay on your device and are not sent to RevenueCat.
- Your saved place: name, coordinates, time zone, and the time the location was updated, used to calculate local sunrise.
- Alarm records: scheduled and skipped occurrences, wake-up confirmation and follow-up alarm state, used to manage the correct alarms.
- Journal entries: the recorded date, check-in time, place name, time zone, and any mood or memory/gratitude note you choose to add, used to show your journal and monthly summaries.
- Wind-down records: allowed-app and website selections, blocking preferences and schedules, completed, ended-early or interrupted nights, and current, best and total moon-streak counts. These record blocking-window completion, not measured sleep or phone usage.
Roosty does not upload your quiz answers, usual sleep times, saved routine, journal records, app selections, or wind-down streak to a developer-operated server or RevenueCat. Onboarding milestone timestamps are reported separately as described below. A journal entry keeps its original date if you travel. Dismissing an alarm does not automatically log a sunrise. Saved-location sunrise calculations and the journal work offline.
Location and city search
When you choose to use your current location, Roosty asks for iOS location permission and requests a location while you use the app. Roosty requests approximate location by default. You can choose Precise Location in iOS Settings; existing permission choices are controlled by iOS. It does not request background location access or continuously track your movements.
You can select a city instead of granting location permission. City searches are sent to Apple’s MapKit service. When resolving your current location into a place name and time zone, coordinates are sent to Apple. These services require a connection and are covered by Apple Maps & Privacy.
Changing your city replaces the saved place used for future calculations. Previously recorded journal entries retain their associated place name and time zone.
Alarms and notifications
With your permission, Roosty provides iOS AlarmKit with scheduled times and the information needed to display and manage alarms, including the place name and sunrise time. Alarm details may appear on the Lock Screen and in Live Activities.
iOS handles local wind-down, morning check-in, and schedule-renewal reminders. Morning check-ins are scheduled on your iPhone for 45 minutes after your routine’s wake-up time and are skipped when that day is already recorded in your journal. Notification permission is optional and separate from alarm permission. Wind-down reminders are automatic when notifications are allowed, using the timing in Sleep & bedtime, even when screen blocking is off. You can control notification permission in iPhone Settings and change morning check-ins in Roosty Settings → Notifications. Your mood and journal entries stay on-device and are not sent to RevenueCat. We record notification choices and permission status with RevenueCat as described below. This version does not send trial-ending reminders or updates-and-offers notifications, and does not register for remote push notifications.
Wind-down app blocking
With your separate Screen Time permission, Roosty can restrict apps and websites during your wind-down and sleep window, except those you choose to keep available and those iOS exempts. Your allowed-app and website selections are stored as Apple-provided opaque tokens, alongside your schedule, any end-for-tonight choice, and wind-down streak records, in a shared on-device container used by Roosty’s Screen Time extensions. The streak records whether a scheduled blocking window was completed, ended early, or interrupted; it does not measure whether you slept or used other devices. Roosty does not collect app usage or browsing history, and does not send your selections, blocking schedule, or streak to RevenueCat or a server. You can edit your allowed apps in Settings → Sleep & bedtime, end blocking for tonight or turn it off in the Wind down tab, or revoke access in iPhone Settings → Screen Time.
Purchases
Apple processes subscriptions through your Apple Account. Roosty uses StoreKit product and verified transaction information, such as purchase dates, expiration, and refund or revocation status, to determine access and display available offers. Apple determines introductory-offer eligibility.
Roosty does not receive your payment card details or send your journal or saved location with a purchase. Apple retains purchase records and makes them available for restoring purchases. Apple may separately provide sales reports and app diagnostics according to its services and your sharing settings. These are not uploads of your sunrise journal.
Apple’s services are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Deleting Roosty does not cancel a subscription or erase Apple’s purchase records.
RevenueCat
Roosty uses RevenueCat to record and validate App Store purchases and understand subscription performance. The SDK sends purchase and transaction information, such as product identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, trial and refund status, together with a randomly generated app-user identifier. It also sends app and SDK versions, operating system information, locale and currency information needed to process requests. RevenueCat receives the IP address used to connect and derives a country from it, then discards the IP address after determining the country. Its customer profile uses the transaction country when available and otherwise uses the last-seen IP country. Country information can differ from your current physical location.
RevenueCat also records when the app first and most recently connects to its service and uses SDK activity to report active customers. Roosty reports when the subscription paywall is displayed, including its placement, and the onboarding design version, the app version when onboarding began, and the first time each onboarding step and setup completion is reached. We use these facts, country information, and purchase records to understand onboarding and subscription performance.
We also record whether you reached the notification permission screen, your initial Enable or Not now choice, the initial permission-request source and result, your current iOS notification permission status, and associated dates and app version. Initial responses are stored separately from current status. Legacy permission records may include the retired updates-and-offers preference; it does not enable promotional messages in this version. These facts are associated with RevenueCat’s randomly generated app-user identifier and help us measure notification opt-in rates. This permission reporting does not send your current wind-down or morning-check-in schedule, journal check-ins, moods, or streak. We do not record general button taps or send quiz answers, usual bedtime or wake-up times, sleep goals, or the personal routine to RevenueCat.
RevenueCat’s identifier does not require you to create an account. We do not send your name, email address, saved city, coordinates, journal, or alarm schedule to RevenueCat. Automatic device-identifier collection is disabled, and we do not enable advertising attribution integrations.
RevenueCat stores purchase records, country information, and basic activity information on its servers and makes customer information and analytics available to us in its dashboard. Information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Support email
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name shown by your email service, the message, and any attachments you send. We use this information to answer questions, investigate problems, respond to feature requests, and handle privacy requests. It is not used for advertising or mailing lists.
The app opens an email draft with our address and a subject. It does not automatically attach your location, journal, or alarm history. Please share only the information needed for your request.
Our support inbox uses Gmail, so Google processes correspondence as our email provider. Your own email provider also handles your message. See Google’s privacy policy. These services may process information outside your country, including in the United States, under their applicable privacy and transfer arrangements.
Earlier chat conversations
Earlier builds included founder chat. This version no longer offers chat or registers for chat reply notifications. Previously sent messages, timestamps, installation identifiers, and any registered push tokens may still be retained in Hostinger’s private support database. Telegram handled message delivery, and a private Google Sheets archive retains conversations from the earlier service. Old local chat copies and credentials are not erased by this update. Support records are kept only as described under Storage and deletion; you can request access or deletion by emailing kalkhtb@gmail.com. These providers may process information outside your country. Older installed builds may continue to use the existing chat service until they are updated.
This website
This site provides support and privacy information. It has no contact form, advertising, or analytics code added by Roosty, and it does not read the app’s local records. Email links open your email service.
These pages are hosted by Hostinger as part of khaledkhatib.com. Serving and protecting the site involves processing technical request information such as IP address, requested page, time, and browser information. Hosting providers may keep operational or security logs under their own policies. See Hostinger’s privacy policy. Visiting external links is subject to those sites’ privacy practices.
Storage and deletion
App records: settings, journal entries, and wind-down records remain locally until you change or remove them, or delete the app. Recent wind-down night results are limited to the latest 180 records; streak totals are stored separately. The app uses iOS file protection for its saved records and does not provide its own cloud synchronization. Updating or offloading Roosty keeps app data; deleting it removes its local app data.
Backups: iCloud or computer backups may contain app data depending on your settings. Deleting the app does not necessarily delete backup copies, and restoring a backup can restore records. Manage copies through your device and backup settings. Read what iCloud backs up.
Support correspondence: we retain messages for as long as reasonably needed to resolve and follow up on your request, including related technical issues, and to meet applicable legal obligations or resolve a dispute. You can request deletion by email. If a specific record must be retained, we will explain why in our response.
RevenueCat records: purchase records, country information, and basic activity information are retained as needed to verify and restore purchases, understand usage and subscription performance, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal obligations. Its customer, purchase, and analytics records have separate retention practices; a chart’s reporting window is not a promise that all records are deleted after that period. Deleting the app does not delete RevenueCat records. Contact us to request access or deletion; because Roosty has no account login, we may need a purchase reference to locate your record. Using the app again or restoring a purchase can create or synchronize purchase records again.
Provider records: Apple controls its purchase records, and email and hosting providers control their service logs and backup retention under their policies. We do not set those retention periods.
Your choices and rights
You can select a different city, edit or remove journal entries, change allowed apps and blocking preferences, and change location, alarm, notification, or Screen Time permissions in iPhone Settings. Revoking location permission does not erase your saved city, which is still used for offline calculations. Use iPhone Settings to delete the app and manage backups.
For personal information handled through support or RevenueCat, you may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing kalkhtb@gmail.com. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, and complain to your local privacy regulator. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify a request. We cannot remotely access or delete records held only on your iPhone.
Where European data protection law applies, we process information needed to provide requested app functions or support on the basis of providing the service. Optional location, notification, and Screen Time functions use the permissions you grant; you can revoke them in iPhone Settings. Subscription and basic usage analytics, country-level audience analysis, security, and necessary support follow-up are based on legitimate interests in understanding and running a reliable service, and legally required records are retained to meet legal obligations. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing. We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Policy updates
We will update the date above when this policy changes. If a change introduces a new use of personal information that requires notice or consent, we will provide that notice or ask for consent as required.
